On Friday drove highway 1 from Carmel to San Luis Obispo, a distance of about 130 miles, along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline I’ve ever seen. Think Great Ocean Road of Victoria and then treble the length, and the distance from the road to the ocean below. Magnificent scenery, blue sky, and a narrow winding road. A wonderful experience. Near Morro Bay I saw hundreds of elephant seals, basking on the beach.
